Terms of Service

1. Agreement to These Terms

Credsly ("Credsly", "we", "us", or "our") is operated by Ronan Stanford, an individual based in Canada. By creating an account or using the Credsly website and fact-checking service (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only subscribe to Credsly Pro with the permission of a parent or guardian.

2. What the Service Does

Credsly uses artificial intelligence (Google Gemini) to identify factual claims in text you submit, searches public sources (a web search engine and Wikipedia) for evidence, and uses AI to judge whether that evidence supports or contradicts each claim.

• Free: up to 150 words per check.
• Credsly Pro: up to 10,000 words per check. Up to 60 claims are verified per check; any further claims are reported as not checked.
• All plans are subject to rate limits and per-check time limits, and we may apply other reasonable usage limits to prevent abuse and keep the Service available for everyone.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity on your account. Please give accurate information when you sign up and let us know promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

4. Subscriptions, Billing, and Merchant of Record

Price: Credsly Pro costs $7.99 USD per month, plus applicable taxes, which may be shown in your local currency at checkout.

Automatic renewal: your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.

Cancellation: you can cancel at any time from your account panel by choosing "Manage Billing / Cancel Subscription". You keep Pro access until the end of the billing period you have paid for. Refunds are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Price changes: we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a price change takes effect on your subscription, so you can cancel first if you prefer.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Break any law or regulation, or infringe anyone else's rights.
• Submit text you do not have the right to submit, or other people's personal information without a lawful basis.
• Bypass or attempt to bypass rate limits, usage limits, or security measures.
• Use scripts, bots, or automated tools to access the Service in bulk, or resell or redistribute the Service.
• Interfere with the Service or the third-party services it relies on.

6. AI Results Can Be Wrong

Verdicts, confidence scores, summaries, and cited sources are generated automatically by AI and search tools. They can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong, and the sources we cite may themselves contain errors.

Results are for research and informational purposes only. They are not legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice. Check important facts yourself before you rely on them, publish them, or make decisions based on them.

7. Your Content

You keep all rights to the text you submit. You give us permission to process it, and to send it to the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy, only as needed to run your checks. We do not save the text you submit to our database, and we do not sell it. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to submit it.

8. Third-Party Sources and Links

Results link to third-party websites and content. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability.

9. Changes to the Service

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service. If we discontinue Credsly Pro entirely, we will refund the unused portion of any period you have already paid for.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or reputation, arising from your use of the Service or from reliance on its results.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and $50 USD.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded or limited by agreement.

12. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or put the Service or other users at risk. You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account by contacting support.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last Updated" date, and for material changes we will also notify account holders by email. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Canadian province in which the operator resides and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of any mandatory laws of the country where you live.
